![]() ![]() I personally like Link and King pin front ends, i like the feel of the car, the they can be dropped more, and overall there stronger, simple to work on, buy a reamer and do it yourself, its not hard at all, not everyone has a press but if you have one it makes it easier to do as well, i bought one from harbor frieght bench top size, works perfect, but if not any machine shop can press out and in your stuff, then you can ream the bushings and reassemble. Location: Phoenix AZ, but originally from Long Island NY Any idea a good place to buy a narrow beam ? I am understanding the king pin is better than i had heard and have decided to keep it and just put spindels and narrow the beam. Salt's for racin', asphalts for gettin' there. King/Link front ends actually ride better on a lowered car because it doesn't bind up like balljoints do. ![]() I think the answer is if it is in your car it is not worth the effort to change to a different type. Any decent vw/machine shop should have the tools to complete this job. The only difficult part on the link pin front end is you need a reamer to ream the bushing before you install the king pins. The link pin front end is actually stronger than the ball joint front end. I might be way off that is why i am asking.īoth front end types have pros and cons. That its a better ride with balljoint thats been lowered! I have rebuilt my front end in my 68 chevelle a few times (owned 20 years) and its ball joint. I have heard its hard to work on the kp/lp front ends. Why do you want to change to a ball joint front end? It can be done, but you have to change (weld on) the ball joint frame head. Has any one done this or is it even a possablity ? Thanks for all the help. New to the bug sceen! I have a 61 bug and was wondering if the front suspention can be changed to balljoint ?
